Round 5 Drift WA, 4th April 2009

Round 5 seemed a little quieter compared to the last few drift meets. There wasn’t as many entrants as there usually is and I felt is may have been a fizzer.

Fantastic weather brought the crowds out and the drivers put on a great show with a few new cars gracing the track. The S15 with its Driftworks inspired orange and black colour scheme turned a few heads and it wasnt just the look. That thing was screaming!

Overall it was a good day. At least there was some racing to be had.

Racecraft and Tuning Day, 22nd March 2009

I never thought I’d say it again, but man motorbikes are fun.

On Sunday I took a few hours out to head up to the track and watch some more bikes. From a photography viewpoint I find they pose much more of a challenge that shooting the car racing. For starters, they are much smaller, the rate of acceleration is unreal and everybody rides differently.

It was great to see the varying levels of skills out on the track and even better to see the couches out there steering the riders in the right direction. Heres a few shots from the morning:

WASCC Night Masters Round 2 – 14/3/09

I missed round 1 of the Night Masters so there was no way I was going to miss out on Rd 2.

The quality of cars and racing was right up there with some great displays of driving and unfortunaltly the odd crash. Thankfully nobody was hurt.

To top the night off, the boys (and girls) from WCS – West Coast Stuntors put on a display for the crowd. There were about 6 bikes with their riders doing all sorts of stunts from burnouts while sitting on the tank to wheelies and endos.  Some Great talent among them.

MCRCWA Tuning Day – 8/3/09

Ive never photographed the bikes and it was only in a passing converstion that I found out about the track day.

The young bloke quite enjoys the bikes so I thought we would have a boys day and head to the track. We only got a few hours in before he tired and we went home. Fortunatly I got a chance to rip off a few shots.

Its quite a bit different from shooting cars but very enjoyable. Will definitely be heading there again.

Drift WA Round 4 – 7/3/09

An interesting turnout to round 4. Several of the bigger name cars wern’t running and a there was a few new cars out there after the new year.

SES Round 1 – 14/2/09

This was my first experience of the SES (Speed Event Series) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Lots of various cars and experienced drivers. Will certainly be attending a few more in the future.

There were two standout cars for me out there, this little blue Escort which unfortunately finished the day with an engine failure:

And this awesome 4 door HQ that blazed the tyres each time he came out of C-Red.
